Step-by-Step: How to Replace Toner in a Brother Printer
- Open the front cover of your Brother printer. The cover release button is usually on the lower-left side of the machine.
- Remove the drum and toner assembly by pulling it straight out toward you.
- Press the green lock lever on the left side of the assembly and slide the old toner cartridge out of the drum unit.
- Unpack your new toner cartridge and gently rock it side to side 5–6 times to distribute the toner evenly.
- Slide the new cartridge into the drum unit until you hear it click into place.
- Reinsert the drum and toner assembly back into the printer and close the front cover.
- Print a test page to confirm everything is working correctly.
⚠️ Tip: If your printer shows a "Replace Toner" message after installing a new cartridge, open and close the front cover once more to reset the sensor.
